Point The Finger: Andrew Friedman

Point The Finger: Andre Friedman, Rays GM
As the MLB trade deadline nears Rays general manager Andrew Friedman will have some difficult decisions to make. In years past the Rays were always sellers when it came to this time of year. A good portion of the talent on the Rays roster today came from those deals. During their 2008 magical season the Rays passed on a big trade for a Jason Bay type and settled for bullpen help aquiring Chad Bradford. With the Rays being a "small market" team and under financial restraint it is imperative they don’t give up the future stars of tomorrow. On the other hand, though, the GM’s job is to always give the team the best chance to [...] Read More..

Random Accurate Thoughts

-The Lightning will turn things around this season and surprise some people
-Steve Yzerman instantly brought credibilty back to the Bolts
-Willy Aybar should get be getting more at bats at DH for the Rays
-The Rays GM Andrew Friedman and/or management sat Joe Maddon down a few weeks ago and told him to quit his lineup shuffle and other B.S. and just let the players play
-For all Rays owner Stu Sternberg’s comments about being aggressive and going for it at the trade deadline they will stand pat and will not be willing to give up prized prospects Jeremy Hellickson and Desmond Jennings
-What happened to "Big Game" James Shields??? This guy used to be our most consistent starter

Point The Finger

Point The Finger: Steve Yzerman-Tampa Bay Lightning GM
First time general manager and HOF player Steve Yzerman is definitly making a splash since taking over the Bolts. With the addition Monday of Simon Gagne from the Flyers. Yzerman has been true to his word about being aggresive and bringing Stan’s Cup back to the Bay Area. Gagne, 30, has 291 career goals and 280 assists throughout the regular season and playoffs. He is the perfect fit for the Bolts and gives them a much needed scorer coming off the left wing. The two-time All-Star was aquired via a trade for defensemen Matt Walker and a fourth-round pick in 2011. Teaming Gagne with his childhood friend Vinny Lecavalier could be exactly what the Lightning were [...] Read More..

Now Or Never: July 19-25

If the Rays are going to make any moves in the standings it’s weeks like this one that they are going to have to dominate. After suffering two loses over the weekend in which they were leading in both against the Yankess its now or never for the Rays. One could argue there are no more important games left on the schedule than those against our division rivals, the Yankees and Red Sox, but domintating the weaker teams is as important if not more. So, the Rays find themselves currently 3 games back the in A.L. East and in the midst of a 9 game road trip. After losing 2 out of 3 in New York, the Rays will travel to [...] Read More..

“Random Accurate Thoughts”

-The Rays missed out on Cliff Lee but have to pull the trigger on a deal for either Adam Dunn or Corie Hart
-After watching the All star game, does anyone throw under 95 mph any more?
-Some respect has to be lost for Phillies manager Charlie Manuel…Picking Omar Infante on the All Star is the most ridiculous thing thats happened in sports in all of 2010 so far.
-Staying with the losing respect for All Star manager theme, how about Joe Girardi…With home field advantage on the line he leaves his own pretty boy player AROD on the bench instead of pinch running for Big Papi in the ninth and the speed factor cost the A.L. big time.
-With the Heat becoming a [...] Read More..
