Look Ahead: 9/20 – 9/26

Barring a monumental collapse the Rays have secured a playoff spot. These last 14 games are still very important though. Home field advantage is still on the line. With that said the Rays will travel to New York this week to play a four game series against the Yankees. The Rays are currently 1/2 game behind. The series will kickoff Monday night with a primetime matchup of Cy Young canaidates David Price and CC Sabathia. The Rays hitting has struggled of late scoring only 22 runs in their last six games. The Tampa Bay Rays are now in sole possession of first place in the vaunted A.L. East. By beating them 1-0 Monday night in St.Petersburg, the Rays are now ½ game up on “The Evil Empire.” They will face off another seven times in the regular season and are favored for a rematch in the A.L. Look Ahead: 9/13 – 9/19

Rays
The Rays head into this week a ½ game behind the first place Yankees. They will play a three game series at Tropicana Field with the A.L. East title at stake.
Game 1 will be a battle of lefty studs with both teams throwing their aces, David Price vs. CC Sabathia. Both pitchers are leading Cy Young candidates. Sabathia has an A.L. leading 19 victories with only 6 defeats, while the Rays flame throwing D. Price has only 17 wins, matching Sabathia’s 6 loses. Price is leading the E.R.A. competition between the two with a 2.87, while CC’s is a more than respectable 3.14.
