The Real BJ Upton

Point The Finger: BJ Upton

What happened to BJ Upton? We are talking about a player who at one time in his career had power. People would talk about how the ball sounded differently coming off his bat. The way it used to for Manny Ramirez or a guy I’ve never seen not hit at absolute frozen rope, Juan Gonzalez. I’m not comparing BJ’s power to them but he had that kind of bat speed. I’m not sure if it is the shoulder injury he suffered that is somehow still affecting his swing but it sure didn’t seem too in the ‘08 playoffs when he was hitting home runs at a record pace.

Random Accurate Thoughts

-Back to back years with big wins vs. in state powerhouse programs FSU and then Miami could finally mean big time rectuits for the USF Bulls. First ever 5 star???
-The Bulls now have a big game coach and could be on their way to winning conference titles…although the announcement of TCU coming to the Big East could mean bad news for the Bulls chances in the long run.
-USF fans can rejoice in the fact they retired two head coaches(Bobby Bowden in 2009 and Randy Shannon in 2010)…Either that or it’s just that embarassing for FSU and Miami to lose to the Bulls that it was a wake up call to change  things up. You be the judge. Whatever spin you wanna put on it.
-No one realistically [...] Read More..

Rays 2011 Bullpen…
The Rays bullpen will have a much different feel to it heading into the 2011 season. There’s not much surprise considering the payroll reduction and the inevitable loss of stud closer Rafeal Soriano.
In the past the Rays management has done a tremendous job finding guys on the rebound. None more then Joaquin Benoit who was coming off major surgery and well worth the risk at the minimum price they got him for. There were hopes he would resign with the club and take over has the closer but was offered to good of a deal to turn down by the Tigers. At 16.5 million over three years Detroit made him one the highest paid middle reliever in the [...] Read More..
