The “2nd Annual May Madness” softball tournament took place Saturday, May 28th at Woodlawn Sports Complex in St.Pete, Fl. It was once again another day of fun in the sun and some great softball action. A total of 20 teams competed for pride, prizes and of course, the coveted Crunch Cup. All teams were randomly selected into 5 divisions of 4 teams with the top 2 from each advancing into the playoffs.
The divisional round games were tightly contested with Good Wood, Gulfshore Sports, Game Blouses, Savages, and the Steamers all going undefeated with team Good Wood taking the #1 seed. Also advancing was the Greysharks, Ruthless Villainz, Punching Judys, Cuse Maintenance and Latin Plus.

On the other side, the Ruthless villainz crushed Punching Judys 19-3 before upsetting #1 seed Good Wood 15-2. In a batlle of undefeated teams #4 Gulfshore Sports took down #5 seeded Game Blouses to advance and face off vs. Ruthless Villainz. The #3 seeded Steamers put on a hitting display to out slug #6 seed Latin Plus 28-23. Team Gulfshore Sports hung on to win a defensive pitcher’s dual 9-6. In the other semi-final game the Steamers kept going strong beating the Greysharks 11-6. The Championship Game was now set…#3 Steamers vs. #4 Gulfshore Sports.
Both teams came in looking for their first Crunch Time Sports title. Tex got the nod for Gulfshore while Gene took the hill for the Steamers. Gulfshore took an early 4-1 lead after 1 inning of play. The Steamers closed the lead to 18-15 after the 4th but Gulfshore proved to be too much. BJ was the hitting star of the game for the Steamers going 3-3 with 3 runs and 5 RBIs. Keith lead the way for Gulshore by hitting 2 HRs with 10 RBIs.
Congrats to team Gulfshore Sports for winning the 2nd Annual May Madness Tournament.
