Congratulations to Matt Morrow and Cody Johnson of ACO Florida for winning Cream of the Corn! The duo makes it 2 Crunch Cups in a row with a 2-0 win over C Squared in the Finals. This ELITE tournament featured some of the best cornhole talent in Tampa Bay. The teams battled through 4 tough divisional games each with the 6 “best of the best” making the playoffs. The playoff tournament featured 3 defending Crunch Time tournament champions, including ACO Florida, the SRQ Daydrinkers, and Shake N’ Bake. 1st seeded ACO Florida (Matt and Cody) and 2nd seeded Westcoast 1 (Mike and Joe) got 1st round byes as division champs. The first semifinal would feature the 4th seeded SRQ Daydrinkers (Bob and Rick) against ACO Florida. The Daydrinkers won “Bags, Boards, and Holes”, the last tournament at Philthy Phil’s, but couldn’t find the magic today as ACO Florida beat them in two straight games. 3rd seeded C Squared (Chris and Chris) pulled the upset over Westcoast 1 in the other semifinal, also winning in two straight games. The finals between ACO Florida and C Squared were now set up. After 7 innings of Game 1, the underdog C Squared got out to a 11-7 lead. However, a big 12-point round by Cody Johnson in the 11th inning would give ACO a 19-11 lead, propelling them to a 21-16 victory. Game 2 was a little less dramatic, as Matt and Cody would combine for 5 7-point rounds in just 9 innings. They won Game 2 21-4 and secured their second Crunch Cup! Congratulations! Also, congrats to Chris Santos of C Squared for winning the free “Block Party” contest! After every player took their shots at the “blocked” board, Chris proved best.
