A special thanks to all teams that came out last Saturday! And CONGRATULATIONS to Hidden Agenda for taking home the title! They beat M.O.F. in a close championship game.
The “CTS Hit Show” softball tournament took place Saturday, September 24th at the GT Bray Sports Complex in Bradenton, FL. The rain out out for a minute but luckily mother nature had our back. The competition level was on point with 10 teams separated into two divisions with the top three teams heading to the playoffs. Everyone played their hearts out batting for the pride and glory of winning the Crunch Cup.
Defending CTS champs Hidden Agenda were back again to defend their title. They strolled their way through divisional play taking the #1 seed heading into the playoffs. Along with them was #2 MOF, #3 Tampa Bay Rage, #4 Team One Timers, #5 WTF!?, and #6 Sons Of Anarchy.
The #6 seed S.O.A. got hot at the right time and pulled off the upset defeating #3 seed Tampa Bay Rage in a slugfest 22-14. MOF were waiting in the wings and would now face S.O.A. In the #4 vs. #5 game, WTF took down Team One Timers 17-7 to advance and face Hidden Agenda.
Sons Of Anarchy didn’t cool off and came out to an early 7-2 lead on MOF through two innings of play. Leadoff man Duane was an on base machine for S.O.A. walking 3 times and scoring 2 runs. William and Jeff also stepped it up and contributed to S.O.A. early lead. MOF would not be denied though and scored 5 runs in each of the bottom of the 5th and 6th innings to pull ahead. Brooks and Wesley sparked the rally for MOF with Kyle and Alex also having big games. MOF held on at the end for a thrilling 15-13 victory.
WTF came out and put up a 4 spot in the 1st inning but Hidden Agenda showed off their offensive skills with 12 runs in the bottom half of the inning. That first inning was a sign of things to come. Hidden Agenda scored 16 runs through 2 innings behind the hitting of Elijah, Ricky, and BJ. Ryan capped it all off with a mammoth home run in the 5th. WTF scored 5 runs in the 7th inning to make it interesting but in the end Hidden Agenda was too much winning 23-15.
The Championship game was not set with #1 seed Hidden Agenda facing off vs. #2 seed MOF. Elijah took the hill for H.A. and Paul got the nod for MOF. Back to back to back singles by BJ, Zack and Ryan helped give H.A. a 4-2 lead after two innings. After only mustering 2 hits in the first two innings MOF’s sticks started to heat up. Alex lead the way with a home run capping a 5 run 3rd inning. H.A. came right back though with 6 runs of their own in the bottom half of the inning. The score was now 10-7 H.A. after 3 innings. They both would tack on another 4 runs throughout the remainder of the game with the final score being 14-11. Mike O., Alex, Jaime, and Wesley played well for MOF in a losing effort. Vance had a 3 run HR and BJ was 3-3 with 3 runs and 1 RBI for H.A. Congrats to Hidden Agenda for winning their 2nd Crunch Cup!
In other news, Dustin of team Triple Diamond J won the HR Derby. Dustin, Jay and Jimmy, both from TB Rage all tied with 4 home runs each before Dustin dominated the swing off with an impressive 8 bombs. Dustin took home $80. Alex of MOF took home the RBI and batting average titles. Alex had 10 RBI’s through 3 divisional games and lead all hitters with a .889 average. Alex took home a pair of batting gloves.
